  2. The united states may have stopped the war in the pacific by the dropping of the Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but they are not justified in the reason why they dropped the Atomic Bombs. The dropping of the atomic bombs on the the two cities in Japan did not just destroy some buildings and kill a hundred people it absolutely decimated the two cites and basically exterminated the populations of the cities. The bombs also had a lasting effect on the area by creating a nuclear fallout and contaminating the cities area for years which caused to people to contract cancer and eventually die.

  4. The U.S. was justified in the dropping of the two atomic bombs because it was the quickest and the safest way to end the war in the Pacific. The U.S. was thinking about invading the Japanese homeland, but if we {the U.S.} were to do that, the cost would be millions upon millions of American people/soldiers losing their lives. Also, the Japanese kind of forced us to drop the two atomic bombs because they {the Japanese} would never accept defeat until basically all of their kind is killed. That is why the U.S. was justified in the dropping of the two atomic bombs.

  5. President Harry Truman was faced with one of the greatest proposals any president has been faced with in United States history- the dropping of the atomic bomb. The decision was important, forcing Truman to weigh the best possible options at the time. In order to end the war quickly and efficiently and save lives on both the American and Japanese sides, Truman’s decision of dropping the atomic bomb was justified.

  7. The US was justified in dropping the two atomic bombs because it led to the eventual Japanese surrender and saved the lives of many American soldiers. If the US had not dropped the bombs, Japan most likely would have gained even more power, countless American lives out be lost, and the outcome of the war could be very different.

  10. America was justified in the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, but only to a certain extent. We needed to avenge the attack on Pearl Harbor, but we should not have killed innocent people rather, we could've targeted military bases or political structures. We also wanted to demonstrate the power that America possessed by dropping our atomic bomb.

  14. America was unjustified with dropping the atomic bomb because, not only were mass amounts of civilians killed or wounded when the bomb went off, but generations after were affected as well. The goal of the US was to stop the war, which could have been accomplished with a surprise attack on Japan, just like they did on Pearl Harbor; not by using an everlasting atomic bomb.

  16. President Truman's decision to drop the Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was justified because if he had not done this he would have likely had to invade mainland Japan which would have caused incredible amounts of American soldiers, Japanese soldiers and Japanese civilians to loose their lives. Its very possible that because of the Japanese "fight to the death" war culture that even more Japanese lives would have been lost if we would have invaded Japan rather than drop the bombs, and it surely saved many American soldiers. As well as ending the war with Japan, dropping the bombs displayed our military might to an increasingly threatening and powerful Soviet Union.

  17. The US was not justified in the droppings of the atomic bombs because Japan was essentially already defeated, and talks of an end to conflict were already in place before the bombs were dropped. The indiscriminate killings of civilians was completely unnecessary and led not only to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and left many more homeless, but the droppings of the bombs also exposed civilians to the devastating, long-lasting effects of radiation.

  25. Throughout the stages of World War II there was no other aspect of the war that was as controversial as President Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bombs on Japan in 1945. The United States, with Truman's approval, dropped atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima (August 6, 1945) and another on Nagasaki (August 9, 1945). President Truman was justified in dropping the atomic bombs because it was necessary to save American lives, and end the war. Not to mention, revenge is the main reason Truman gave for using the bombs on Japan.

On the morning of December 7th of 1941, the Japanese sprung a surprise attack on the United States at Pearl Harbor. This immediately brought the United States into World War II. The U.S. knew as soon as they got involved millions of American and Japanese lives would be lost. The Japanese would not back down, surrendering was the last thing on their to-do list, therefore President Truman made the powerful decision to drop two atomic bombs, and in result the Japanese signed an unconditional surrender which accomplished Truman's goals of saving American lives and ending the war.

refused to surrender to the allies. If the United States didn't choose to bomb Japan, we would of suffered many more lives due to the US having to invade the mainland and cost the lives of American soldiers. The atomic bombs also demonstrated the strength of the US government and military.

  30. The United States was justified in dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because it saved thousands of lives and ended the war quickly. The battle of Okinawa convinced the U.S. that if they invaded Japan they would lose many lives and the war would go on much longer. 33. Even in what would have become a horrific war of attrition on the Japanese home front, the killing of civilians is an unpardonable crime. From the viking marauders of the Dark Ages to the brutal warlords of Africa, those who raped and pillaged their way to victory have always been demonized. The United States is not exempt, as made clear by the scientists of the Manhattan Project themselves, who spoke out against their own work after the first use of the bomb. The US committed atrocities by dropping the first nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the country should not be pardoned for these acts under the pretense of strategic necessity.

  34. After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941, American's became furious and demanded revenge. They then began planning their attack and came to the conclusion that they would drop two atomic bombs towards the Japanese. We agree that it was the right thing to do by dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor first, if they didn't bomb The U.S. then none of this would have happened.

Once President Roosevelt found out about what had happened at Pearl Harbor, he was completely shocked. The Japanese's plan of a surprise attack was definitely a success. Roosevelt was so furious at the time because of what had just happened and the next day addressed the nation about the attack. He then immediately wanted to figure out how to get even with the Japanese and decided to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

  36. The United States was unjustified to drop the bombs over Japan since it caused the death of thousands of innocent civilians who had nothing to do with the war. It was Japan's fault for not surrendering to the U.S. during the war, but if they knew they were going to be nuked by the bombs, then they would have surrendered in the first place. Also, this operation to drop the bombs was primarily motivated by revenge, which is another unjustified reason for ending the war.

I understand why some americans thought it was acceptable , but what those individuals didnt understand was that they would be putting an end to thousands of innocent peoples lives, an no man, woman, nor child should have their lives cut short. the dropping of these bombs is a scar on America's resume that shall not be forgotten

  41. The United States decision for the Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6th and 9th of 1945 was a difficult but justifiable decision due to the fact that the Japanese military ordered the execution of all Allied prisoners if there was an invasion. This alone would have cost thousands of lives not including the many thousands of troop casualties it would have took to successfully invade Japan.

“A world without nuclear weapons would be less stable and more dangerous for all of us.” Said by Margaret Thatcher during the cold war. The use of nuclear weapons on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justified attacks made b the US in attempt to end the fighting of WW2 in the pacific Theatre. These attacks were justified with the reasoning that both of the targets for nuclear attack were large production and factory cities, to strike fear in others as well as Japan, and pay back for the devastating attack on pearl harbor.

Harry Truman had a very difficult desicion to make, either keep fighting a detramental war with the Japanese and possibly have it drug out longer than needed, or drop two atomic bombs on Japan and crush them. Do the Japanese not deserve this attack even though they suprise bombed Hawaii and took countless innocent lives? So yes, the US was justified for droping the atomic bombs because it quickly ended the war between the US and Japan, and ceized whatever power Japan could have gained.

  45. "Having found the bomb we have used it. We have used it against those who attacked us without warning at Pearl Harbor, against those who have starved and beaten and executed American prisoners of war, against those who have abandoned all pretense of obeying international laws of warfare. We have used it in order to shorten the agony of war, in order to save the lives of thousands and thousands of young Americans. We will continue to use it until we completely destroy Japan's power to make war. Only a Japanese surrender will stop us” (Harry Truman). The United States were justified in many ways for the dropping of the atomic bomb during the summer of 1945. For one, it put an end to the war which in return also ended the bloodshed and deaths of many. If the United States did not take action and drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the war would have still gone on and more innocent lives would have been taken. Japan had the chance to surrender, but they only had war on their minds, so the U.S had to take action. Even though the atomic bomb took the lives of innocent people, it also saved thousands of others. If the war would have continued, the U.S would have had to invade Japan and more innocent lives would have been taken and many would have been Allies and innocent civilians. Japan would have done the same thing to the United States and the U.S just got to it first. Therefore by dropping the atomic bomb the United States saved millions of Americans and Japanese lives. It goes along with the saying that “the end justifies the means.”

  47. The United States was justified for dropping the atomic bomb due to there being a dire need to end hostilities with Japan. Japan was a country known for their relentless fighting strategies. War would have cost a large quantity of money to continue on if the absurd/incredible power of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not used. Even with the disadvantage being that the bomb would drop on cities of innocent civilians, it was needed to end the war that had already massacred millions of innocent lives.
