Brion & Jesse, P2,
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. of A. was justified in dropping the atomic bombs because japan ignored our ultimatum for their surrender, and a straightforward invasion of Japan would have consumed more resources, time, and dramatically increased casualties, opposed to dropping the two atomic bombs that wouldn't carry any American casualties.
Brion & Jesse,
DeleteGood start. You always need to spell out the country the first time it is written, then abbreviate from that point forward. EX: United States (U.S.), then U.S. from that point forward. Capitalize Japan. Do you think Japan would have ignored us or do you know that. If you know it, be prepared to prove it with evidence. If you are speculating, emit this. Period after "casualties". "Dropping the two atomic bombs..." refine your argument here.
Alana & Sabrina Per. 2
ReplyDeleteWhile the United States was justified in dropping the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, they were unjustified and acted with excessive force when they decided to drop the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki. When President Truman made the call to bomb Hiroshima, he did it in order to protect American lives and hopefully end the war. The first atomic bomb made a huge impact by causing many casualties, but when Truman decided to release a second atomic bomb, it became excessive and further vindicated atomic warfare.
Sabrina & Alana,
DeleteThis is a fantastic way to present your argument! Very well done. I just have flow and punctuation suggestions:
The decision to drop an atomic bomb over Hiroshima, Japan protected American lives and promised a prompt end to the war, making a huge impact by causing many casualties in this military complex. While the United States was justified in dropping the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, the decision to drop the second bomb on Nagasaki showed excessive force and was, as a result, unjustified. Its destruction of a civilian city was excessive and further vindicated atomic warfare.

ReplyDeleteThe United States was not justified in dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because the bomb left the Japanese in physical and psychological devastation. The bomb was also a means of experimentation on human lives, which is considered a crime against humanity. Creating and using the first atomic weapons also sparked the beginning of the arms race associated with the Cold War.
Nick & Daniel,
DeleteWell done. I would just refine this, it runs on and on. Punctuation changes will make it much more readable. Also, remember to discuss the bombs in plural (there were two) Ex:
The United States was not justified in dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because the bombs left the Japanese in physical and psychological devastation. Used as a means of experimentation on human lives, the use of the first atomic weapons sparked the beginning of the arms race associated with the Cold War, as Super Powers fought to protect their people and their resources from nuclear assault.
Ryan and Brandon, Period 2
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. was justified in dropping the atomic bombs because it put a quick end to the war, it saved a lot of money, and it actually saved millions of American and Japanese lives because America wouldn't have had to invade the mainland.
Ryan & Brandon,
DeleteNice start! Just needs to be made a little more formal. EX:
The United States was justified in dropping the atomic bombs on Japan. The use of atomic weapons brought a quick end to the costly war of attrition and saved millions of American and Japanese lives.
Ferny and Kenneth P.2
ReplyDeleteThe United States of America was justified for dropping the Atomic Bombs because it reduced the casualties of both sides rather than a full scale invasion on Japan. Other options were available but the moral of the Japanese was to never surrender and die with honor. The United States of America saved lives and time with this action that changed the view of future wars later.
Ferny & Kenneth,
DeleteExcellent points that will be easy to research and discuss in your blog! You need a few modifications to make this perfect.
Try:
The United States of America was justified in dropping the atomic bombs on Japan. This action reduced the high casualties on both sides projected in the event of a full scale invasion and thrust the United States into the post war role of Super Power.
Ana and elsy per. 2 thesis
ReplyDeleteThe United States was unjustified on dropping the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because Japan was ready to surrender. Japan was going to surrender a few months after the warning was given out, with nearly 60 cities destroyed because of the attacking of the American troops and bombing of cities, Japan saw that there was little hope for them and in order to save lives they would surrender. Dropping of the atomic bomb was a senseless civilian casualty in an already bloody war. The United States didn’t think of the factors that the atomic bomb would bring, such as radiation, poisoning, which lead to cancers such as Leukemia. Thousands of innocent people, including women and children lost their lives and families. The after effects of those bombings are felt even today. The dropping of the atomic bomb was a low point in human history.
Ana & Elsy,
DeleteYou make really good points that will be easy to discuss in your project. Your thesis is way too involved. Refine into a thesis and use the supporting information in your following discussion. This is a nice paragraph. Your thesis needs to be 2 sentences. Try to refine it into a proper thesis statement (2 sentences) and reorganize the remaining information into a separate supporting paragraph. Once you do this, show it to me again please.
Johny & Jacqui, P.2
ReplyDeleteThe U.S was justified with dropping the first atomic bomb "littleboy", but not nessesarily with the second bomb "Fat Man" even though it did set a point. Droping "Fat Man" was a move by President Truman to finally finish and put an end to the war and to set a message out to show the world how powerful we were and dropping the second bomb finalized trumans supiority over the U.S reign.
Johnny & Jacqui,
DeleteExcellent points and a good idea to discuss the two bombs as separate events. Perfect! The thesis statement needs work, it runs on.
Suggestions:
Spell out United States
Make a statement and leave out reasoning in first sentence. Use the second sentence to discuss your reasons.
Make the changes and show it to me please.
the United States was unjustified in dropping the atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because it killed many innocent civilains,90,000-166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000-80,000 at Nagasaki. it left many homeles and children with birth defects, the majority suffered from cancer and other long term effects. -elliott dunning, josh koontz
ReplyDeleteElliott & Josh,
DeleteWell done. I have a few minor changes to suggest (mostly grammar).
The United States was unjustified in dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bombs killed many innocent civilians; 90,000-166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000-80,000 in Nagasaki. In addition, hundreds of thousands were left homeless and the people of Japan suffered long-term effects of radiation in the years following the bombings.
Dalton & Nate, Period 2.
ReplyDeleteAmerica was justified in dropping the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima because Japan refused to surrender and the U.S.A. dropped "Little Boy" on August 6,1945. The drop of "Little Boy" was to end the war immediately. But 3 days later America dropped the second atomic bomb, "Fat Man" on August 9,1945, which was completely unneceassary, it was an extremely excessive use of force. Even though it killed innocent people, it was smart because it ended the war.
Dalton & Nate,
DeleteThank you for your submission. Excellent start! I have a few small suggestions.
America was justified in dropping the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima because Japan refused to surrender and the action brought an immediately end to their war of attrition. In contrast, the second bombing over Nagasaki, a civilian city, was an extremely excessive use of force and unnecessary.
The United States was unjustified in dropping the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because it killed 150,000- 246,000 innocent civilians and caused the survivors homeland to be contaminated and uninhabitable.
ReplyDelete-paige saso and jilian harvey period 2
Paige & Jillian,
DeleteExcellent start! My changes are minor:
The United States was unjustified in dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because the actions killed 150,000- 246,000 innocent civilians and left the two Japanese cities contaminated with radiation.
JoseV.P2
ReplyDeleteThe USA was justified in the atomic bombing of Japan because the USA wanted to stop Japans ability to make war against the USA. Had we stormed the beaches of Japan the USA would of lost many American lives.
Jose,
DeleteGood start. Always spell out a country, organization, etc the first time you use it in an essay, then abbreviate it after that. EX: United States (U.S.). Then, U.S. after that. Good start. My suggestions include:
The United States (U.S.) was justified in the atomic bombings of Japan because the U.S. wanted to stop Japan's ability to make war. The immediate end of the war saved American and Japanese lives by preventing further land assaults by the U.S. against the militaristic Japan.
Blake and Victor, P2
ReplyDeleteThe US was justified in using the atom bomb against Japan because it was for the best of both countries. We saved millions of lives. Also it was self defense and they dropped more bombs on us. We only dropped two that were bigger and stronger.
Blake & Victor,
DeleteThere are some problems with your thesis, including information that is not historically accurate. First, Japan only attacked us at Pearl Harbor (never on the mainland which you imply here).
Try rewriting your thesis with attention to the topics you will cover in your blog. Also, remember that there were 2 bombs, so discuss them as plural or as 2 separate events. Saving lives is a valid argument. Find at least one more reason that it was justified and present it here with the "saved lives" argument. After you rewrite your thesis, show it to me please.
Kayla and Kelsey, P.2
ReplyDeleteThe United States was justified in the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima because it caused the immediate end of the war. This saved many civilian lives and it this prevented Russia from taking over Japan.
Kelsey & Kayla,
DeleteYour thesis has promise. I have a few suggestions:
DIscuss the bombs in plural (there were 2). When you discuss the saving of lives include US military by just saying "it saved lives". You can detail Japanese civilian death projections and US & Japanese military projections as a result of a land attack in your research. Regarding preventing the take over of Japan by Russia, do you have research to back this up? Make sure you only include information that you can back up.
Avery French, Period 2
ReplyDeleteThe United States of America tried to justify the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by saving American lives, however, this was uncivilized and morally corrupt. These atomic bombs killed approximately 220,000 innocent civilians and was later proven that a total of 300,000 were killed by the effects of bombs.
Avery,
DeleteExcellent start. You will find a lot of compelling evidence to back your points! Read your thesis statement out loud and make changes as necessary to make it flow better. Also, put a period after "American lives" and start a new sentence with "However". Nice job.
Brooke&Amber, Period 2
ReplyDeleteThe United States was justified in dropping the atomic bombs due to the fact that Japan would not surrender, under any means. The Japanese believed that that they must "fight till death" and rejected alternative peaceful solutions mandated by the U.S. to end the conflict. Despite the fact, that many lives were lost in the bombing,it caused immediate cessation to the war, and prevented a multitude of additional casualties.
Brooke & Amber,
DeleteExcellent thesis statement! the coma after "Despite the fact" needs to be removed. Also, everything after "to end the conflict" is supporting evidence to be presented after your thesis, not as a part of your thesis. Well done!
Calin Clifford & Desarae Vincent, Period 2
ReplyDeleteAlthough it created a quick end to the war, the United States was unjustified in the dropping of the atomic bomb. While President Truman claimed it save countless American lives, the bomb killed more than 140,000 Japanese citizens. The bomb also caused radiation in Japan, lasting more than eighteen days after the initial drop, to cause survivors to contract terrible sicknesses, and it also started a nuclear arms race across the globe.
Calin & Desarae,
DeleteExcellent start! I have a few suggestions to help it read better:
Although the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki led to a quick end to the war in the Pacific, the United States was unjustified in the dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan. While President Truman claimed the bombings saved countless American lives, the bombs killed more than 200,000 Japanese citizens, resulted in deadly radiation, and started a global nuclear arms race.
The bomb was completely necessary to put final cap on Jewish desire for world domination. FDR and Truman were both Freemasons. The decision to burn alive more than 10 million babies, children, women, old men in Hiroshima , Nagasaki was forced upon Truman by Jews lobby in particular by Bernard Baruch a prominent Jew and advisor to both FDR and Truman.
ReplyDeleteConnor & Jake,
DeleteHu?!?!?!?!? I need you to see me immediately please. Do not submit this thesis statement on your final project and do not progress further before you see me to discuss your points as they are presented here. I would like you to bring me any research (with source citations) that you have gathered to date that led you to this thesis statement.

ReplyDeleteThe United States was unjustified in dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because it increased war tensions, killed more than 100,000 innocent civilians, and cultivated of nuclear threat in many countries.
I'm sorry Parisa and Chloe, you missed the due date on the thesis statement submission. Please see me for thesis edits. Do not miss the project due date of March 5 by 8:00pm please. NO LATE PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED!

DeleteThe United States was unjustified in dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because htis show of power by the U.S. increased war tensions with the Soviet Union, killed more than 200,000 innocent civilians, and gave birth to an era of continued worldwide nuclear threat.
